Meriden Staff
George "Bud" Wassell, MS, LPC, CEAP
Director, Solutions Employee Assistance Program
Bud has been with Solutions since 1987 and has been in the EAP
field since 1981. He directed the growth of Solutions from a small local program
at MidState Medical Center into a state of the art program, offering a broad
array of workplace services to multiple organizations statewide. He has been a
Certified Employee Assistance Professional since the first certification in
1987. He has designed and implemented EAPs for all sizes and types of
organizations. Bud has a Masters in Counseling and is a Licensed Professional
Counselor. He is certified in Critical Incident Stress Management and was a
founding member of the Employee Crisis Debriefing Network at Hartford Health
Care Corporation. Dedicated to the EAP field, he has been an active member and a
leader in the Connecticut Chapter of the Employee Assistance Professionals
Association (EAPA), serving as President and officer for 12 years.
Bud has conducted all types of EAP training, including Senior Management
Briefing, Supervisor Training and Employee Orientations. Other training
experience includes Stress Management, Change Management and Violence in the
Workplace for all levels of employees.
Marcia Eager, LCSW, CEAP, Program Coordinator
Marcia is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and has over ten years of experience
with Solutions, providing EAP counseling, consultation to
managers, stress management programs and various other training programs. She is
a Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP). She is also certified in
Advanced Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and has extensive experience providing
CISM services. Her past experience as a Hospice Bereavement
Coordinator and founder of The Exceptional Cancer Patient (ECaP) program with
Dr. Bernie Siegel, makes her very skilled with Transition and Grief groups.
Marcia has conducted a wide variety of workshops from one to eight hours in
length. Some of her favorites are: Right Brain/ Left Brain, Humor, Stress
Management, Hypnosis and Relaxation Techniques, Change Management, Living with
Life-threatening and Catastrophic Illness, Conflict Resolution, Spirit In The
Workplace, Take Time for Your Life, EAP Supervisor Training, EAP Employee
Orientations and Toxic Work.
Abby Anderson, M.S., LPC, CEAP,Program Coordinator
Abby is a Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP) who
holds a master’s degree in counseling and school psychology and is a Licensed
Professional Counselor (LPC). Abby has, in her twenty-five years of counseling,
worked extensively with individuals experiencing a broad range of difficulties,
including substance abuse, working in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
She has been in the employee assistance field for ten years, providing
assessment and counseling, and presenting a wide range of educational and
training topics to many organizations and varied populations.
Abby has worked and trained in a variety of settings, from direct
manufacturing facilities, law firms, municipalities, universities, corporate
headquarters, hospitals, and community service offices. The types of training
she has done include Stress Management, Burnout Prevention, Effective
Communication, Male-Female Communication, Dealing with Difficult People, Substance Abuse
Education, Conflict Management/Resolution, and Fighting Fair.
Evelyn Gonzalez Mercado, AS , EAP Business Coordinator
Evelyn has been with Solutions for over five years and has been employed
at MidState Medical Center since 1985. She is bi-lingual and bi-cultural in
Spanish. She has excellent desk-top publishing, database management, program
reporting, phone triage and crisis intervention skills. She is responsible for
our central office operation as well as our website.
Laurie
Zlotowski, AS, EAP
Services Associate
Laurie has been with Solutions since 2002 and has served
as Admissions & Marketing Coordinator and Assistant for a nursing home
system. She brings a high level of
customer service, organizational and research skills to Solutions.
Laurie provides direct services to our customers in fulfilling
information, resource and referral requests. She also maintains our library of
tips, information and community resources as well as, providing support to the
Program Coordinators with flyers and handouts for trainings
Hartford Office
Vivien Bergl, LCSW, CEAP, Program Coordinator, Hartford Office
Serving Hartford Hospital and Connecticut Childrens Medical Center, Vivien
brings eight years of EAP experience from The Travelers, Make It Work EAP and
Shapiro Associates and is a nationally Certified Employee Assistance
Professional (CEAP) and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). Prior to her
EAP positions, she worked for 10 years in outpatient mental health and child
welfare. Vivien also has training and significant experience in Critical
Incident Stress Debriefings.
Vivien has ten years of training experience in corporate, academic,
manufacturing and healthcare settings. She also has academic teaching experience
in human services and gerontology.
She has delivered a broad variety of topics, including Coping with Stress
& Change, Bereavement, Conflict Resolution, Dealing with Difficult People,
Effective Listening and Communication, Team Building, Caregiver Stress, Rape
Prevention and EAP Supervisory Training.
Rebecca Harris, MS, LPC, CEAP, EAP Program Coordinator
Becky has ten years of experience at Solutions EAP and is a
Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP) and a Licensed Professional
Counselor (LPC). She is very skilled in all facets of EAP direct services,
including management consultation and group work. She also has nine years of
experience in Substance Abuse treatment.
Lucretia Klieback, MSW, LCSW, CISM, EAP Consultant
Lucretia is a Spanish speaking, Licensed Clinical Social Worker with
extensive experience in Crisis Intervention, Group Work, Individual and Family
Counseling. She has been with Solutions EAP for four years and
also works at Connecticut Childrens Medical Center as a Social Worker in
Intensive Care. She is certified in Critical Incident Stress Management.
Joint Venture with Middlesex Hospital
Gwen Kesten, Ph.D. Program Coordinator, Middlesex Hospital EAP
Gwen is a clinical psychologist who comes to Solutions from Manchester
Memorial Hospital where she worked for 9 years directing adult outpatient
behavioral health services. In that capacity she had direct clinical
responsibilities as well as administrative oversight and community liaison
functions. She has 16 years of clinical experience working with children,
adolescents and adults. She has coordinated crisis services, worked with anxiety
disorders, sexual dysfunction, eating disorders and peri-menstrual problems.
Gwen has conducted a number of workshops for businesses, local PTOs and in
healthcare settings on burnout, stress management, topics related to clinical
syndromes such as depression, anxiety or personality disorder and on sexuality.
Kelly Huffman, MS, LPC, CEAP EAP Counselor, Middlesex Hospital EAP
Kelly has a Masters degree in Counseling, is a Licensed Professional
Counselor and a Certified Employee Assistance Professional. She has been in the
employee assistance field for 20 years and has worked with a variety of
organizations, including large corporations, hospitals, manufacturing companies,
government and human service agencies. Her areas of clinical specialty are
substance abuse, women’s issues, and grief/loss counseling. In addition to her
counseling responsibilities, she has conducted numerous presentations on a wide
range of topics such as Stress Management, Coping with Change, Sexual
Harassment, Team Building, Substance Abuse, Effective Communication and Dealing
with Difficult People.
Consultant Staff
Gary Alger, M.Div., LADC, CEAP
Gary comes to Solutions EAP with an extensive background in external
EAP’s, servicing major national contracts, as well as catering to small
businesses in the central Connecticut region since 1990. A former pastor, and
now a nationally Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP), and state
licensed alcoholism and drug counselor (LADC). Gary’s past clinical experience
includes individual and couples therapy, anxiety disorders, substance abuse, and
grief/loss issues. In addition, he has specialized training in conflict
resolution/management and critical incident stress de-briefing.
Judith Wilcox, Ed.D, Critical Incident Stress Management Consultant
As an approved trainer for the International Critical Incident Stress
Foundation, Judith has trained several Peer Teams at the Department of Mental
Health & Addiction Services. She provides on-going clinical supervision to
the team at Connecticut Valley Hospital. She also has many years of experience
as a mental health professional, college professor and Emergency Medical
Technician.
D. Craig Newton, MSW, LCSW, BCD, Critical Incident Stress Management Trainer
Craig is a lecturer in both the departments of Medicine and Surgery in the
Yale University School of Medicine. He has been involved in Critical Incident
Stress Management since 1986. As a recognized ICISF instructor, Craig teaches
both the basic CISM course and the Crisis Intervention/Peer Support Training. He
has 20 years experience teaching and consulting on a variety of topics to Law
Enforcement, Fire Service and the EMS community. Currently working as a Senior
Clinical Social Worker at Yale-New Haven Hospital in Employee Assistance, he has
past experience with the Emergency Department, Trauma Service and Child
Inpatient Psychiatry.
